 | Hah! I loved this. Peanuts was the first comic I ever got into, way before the superhero stuff. |
 | This is simply amazing! I'm a huge Sally-Linus shipper (SS Sweet Babboo/ette) - I'm still hoping they ended up together in the end! :D I hope Frank Miller will do an entire graphic novel just for Peanuts... well, a girl can dream, right? ;) |
 | Hi, lady5erudite!
If he does, I wonder which character(s) Frank Miller will kill off. :D
Okay, I've got a question for you, since you seem to be as big a Peanuts fan as I am: Given that Peppermint Patty and Marcie are in love with Charlie Brown (though they don't know it yet), which one do you want him to end up with when they all grow up? Or does he get the little red-haired girl? :D (Naaah...)
I asked that same question of another friend of mine, who is also a big Peanuts fan and is gay, and he said, "Neither. Gusto ko si Charlie Brown at si Linus."
Hahahahaha! :D :D :D
Oh, man. This is really sooo wrong. That's what I get for starting off this blog post with that title. |

Or does he get the little red-haired girl? :D (Naaah...) Ohhh!!! This is so hard! I simply adore Peppermint Patty but I also kind of resemble Marcie (well, if Marcie is chubby and rosy-cheeked) -- but, I guess I'd go for Patty and "Chuck"! I don't know, it's more of a gut feel for me. ;)
The Red-Haired Girl, for me, should remain the unattainable 'Ideal' for Charlie Brown -- someone he loved from afar and could never ever be his. But, one can not really know... All I want is for Charlie Brown to be happy in his life, no more no less! :D |
 | Thanks for this, Kenneth. :) Am a lifelong Peanuts fan, myself. Hope you don't mind if I butt in and also answer the question you posed to lady5erudite. :)
Am all for Marcie, actually. Though people like to point out the lesbian undertones of her relationship with Peppermint Patty, it's quite clear that she has feelings for 'Chuck' -- and that it's mutual, which I'm not sure is the case between Chuck and Patty.
See the excellent 1973 cartoon "There's No Time For Love, Charlie Brown," where Marcie gives Charlie Brown a kiss on the walk home which sends him into daydreamy bliss.
Or Charlie Brown should end up with Violette, from "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown." :D |
 | "Neither. Gusto ko si Charlie Brown at si Linus." this reminded me of Dog Sees God, the stage play where charlie brown falls in love with schroeder :) haven't seen it myself, i've just heard of it. |
 | @luiskatigbak: Oh, yes! That's right! Chuck and Marcie seem all right, though I wonder how that would affect Marcie's and Peppermint Patty's friendship.
Hehehe. This is so funny and weird: Three Peanuts fans speculating on the grown-up years of the characters.
That's what happens when fictional characters ring true with readers.
And thank you for the link. Kinda' bittersweet, and "aww" in effect, but well-worth the read, and it does provide some form of closure as fan-fic. :) |
 | @chemicalsunset: Hmm...interesting. Well, they must be close. After all, Charlie Brown was the pitcher and Schroeder was the catcher.
Ooo, if one stretches the imagination, that also sound sooo wrong. :D |
 | @anitero: I think it was the same for me. Peanuts, then Tintin, Asterix, and then a bit of the superhero stuff. |
 | Brilliant stuff. I particularly like the implied segue at the end.
It reminds me of a short story I once read about whatever happened to Susan after the Narnia adventures were over. (People who have read C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle probably know what I'm talking about here.) The interesting part was that it was written by this guy named Neil Gaiman... |
 | @lengthofwords: Fan-fic done well, perhaps? :) |
