*blinks* I... didn't really know that realist was considered the "mainstream" lit. Wouldn't "mainstream" entail what most people are reading? If so nowadays that would be horror/romance/chick lit wouldn't it?

Are the first 2 days open to the public then?

@anitero: That would be a good question to raise to the panel.

@ekmisao: Maybe you can fix your schedule and make some of the talks?

@psychicangel and jfnacino: There's nothing in the site to say that it's closed to the public on any of the three days, but to be certain I'll ask someone who's involved with the festival.

Thanks. I heard at first it was closed to the public. Could be I was wrong. Though I did see this quote from a link:

"According to Angelo "Sarge" R. Lacuesta, Taboan 2009 Coordinator, the first two days of the Festival will include talks and panel discussions on various topics that will be interesting – and essential – to the accomplished Filipino writer while the third day will be a conference involving the younger writers and inviting them to confront key issues and concerns surrounding Filipino literature today. "

Could take it one way or it could mean nothing at all. Sayang if it ain't.

@jfnacino & psychicangel: I asked Sir Butch Dalisay, and he told me that yes, all 3 days are open to the public, but subject to space limitations. He said that it's really meant for writers to get together, so many sessions will be held in fairly small rooms, but as far as the general public and other writers can be accommodated, they'd be welcome to attend.

I hope this info helps. TY!
